Fausti, Marche Passerina (2016)

Grape: Passerina
Geography: Marche, Italy
Appellation: Marche

The brand name Fausti was given through the joint initiative of Domenico D’Angelo and Cristina Fausti with the specific purpose of establishing a structure that would integrate harmoniously in the territory, which they have always loved and where they grew up.

Due to the years of experience acquired in vineyards they were not scared of facing such a challenging mission.

The strong ties with the land, coupled with the perfect combination of high density of vines per hectare and low production of grapes per vine have produced exceptional results.

An important step that was taken, in accordance with the company’s spirit, was that of shifting to organic farming the total of 20 hectares of vineyard, distributed between the communes of Fermo and Offida.

Light straw yellow, taking on a golden hue with age. Delicate citrus fruit fragrance with hints of green apple. Fresh and inviting with citrus and apple notes, nice acidity and persistent finish


Authentic Wine Selections, Voix de la Vigne Pinot Gris (2017)

Established in 2013, Authentic Wine Selections represents a global portfolio of wines that are faithful to their origin. Their domestic offerings are small, or micro-production, wines made by accomplished winemakers working with some of the West Coast’s finest vineyards. Most of their selections are sustainable, organic, or Demeter certified biodynamic.

Nose: Mineral, slate, white peach, candied oranges, vanilla and fennel.
Palate: Lively and focused with green apple, pear key lime, honey suckle and ocean

Fausti, Rosso Piceno Fausto (2016)

Located in the town of Fermo, just 1.25 miles from the Adriatic coastline, the 25 acre Fausti estate is in the final stages of transitioning to fully organic growing practices. The 22.5 acres of vineyards have a high density of 2000 vines per acre. They include 5 varietals, including three different Montepulciano clones (one of which is a direct descendant of one hundred year old vines from Fermo), Syrah and Sangiovese; and 2 white varietals, Passerina and Pecorino. In 2002, a new state of the art winery was built directly next to the house and the vineyards, which uses gravity to transfer wine into the storage facility below ground where the wine is aged to perfection.

Although sparse with vineyards today, wine production in this area was of some historical significance. The coat of arms on the medieval tower overlooking the estate, and a vine with three grape clusters were recorded in historical documents. Having important historic relevance, the tower became the symbol of the winery; reigning over the vineyards, countryside, the Conero and Sibillini mountains, and the Adriatic Sea.

Color: Deep purple.
Bouquet: Scents of violets and wild cherry with oak undertones.
Taste: Clean, crisp wild cherry flavors with hints of oak and a lasting finish.


Authentic Wine Selections, Accent de la Vigne Pinot Noir California (2016)

Voix de la Vigne started as a natural next step for me in the wine business. In addition to my distribution company, Authentic Wine Selections,  Robert Morrison have sold wine nationally for Laurent Montalieu (founding winemaker at Willakensie Estate).
In California, I have been distributing Laurent’s three brands since 2009: Solena Estate, Hyland Estate, and Brella. Based on my close working relationship with Laurent and his team, we decided to collaborate on a new Pinot Noir for the National and international markets.
It was my desire to create a brand that is eye-candy for the Francophile—it looks like an old bottle of Burgundy, yet it is domestic and affordable

VINIFICATION The fruit was destemmed and passed through a heat exchange to drop the temperature below 40 degrees F and prevent radical fermentation. After a 3 day cold soak the temperature is raised and yeas is added to start fermentation. Fermentation is temperature controlled to 80 degrees. Wine is then neutral oak aged for approximately 8 months.

WINEMAKER’S TASTING NOTES This is a very expressive wine aromatically, with lychee, cranberry, kola, raspberry, red cherries abounding with hints of cinnamon and clove, wildflower honey, and cacao. Flavors of red fruits including pomegranate are accented by wisps of cedar and a hint of leather. This wine has a bright, food-friendly profile.

FOOD PAIRING This wine will pair well with poached or grilled salmon, variety of pork dishes, poultry, and lamb.
